Northern Cyprus
In recent years Northern Cyprus has shown signs of rapid modernisation and economic growth. The country is easily accessible from the UK with most major UK airports flying to the island's international airport in Ercan.
Despite a sharp increase in tourism in recent years Northern Cyprus is one of the last unspoilt destinations in the Mediterranean. The friendliness and hospitality of the locals, wonderfully varied cuisine, quiet beaches, archaeological sites and medieval castles combine to make the perfect recipe for a truly amazing holiday.
At the heart of the main town, Kyrenia, is a beautiful Venetian Harbour – complete with cafes and great restaurants - offers holiday makers the ideal opportunity to relax and fall into the Cypriot pace of life.
Travelling Requirements
A valid passport is required for entry to Northern Cyprus.
How to get there
There are a large number of frequent scheduled and charter flights (over 100 per week) that arrive on the island each week during the summer months. There are flights to Ercan airport from London Stansted, Gatwick and Heathrow along with Manchester and Glasgow from the UK.
Northern Cyprus has direct air links only with Turkey, where all planes from Europe must first touch down. Although passengers remain on the plane this adds approximately half an hour extra to the journey, but don’t worry it's more than worth it when you arrive!
Climate
The climate of the island is similar to many Mediterranean countries with long hot summers and mild winters.
